Verdict in lawsuit by LAPD officer shows off the generosity of Downtown Los Angeles juries

A big part of Special Directives was the idea that downtown Los Angeles juries hand out multi-million dollar verdicts like Halloween candy. A verdict returned last week proved that to be true.

A woman supervisor with the LAPD was fired for being caught having sex in a car with a junior officer. She admits what she did was wrong, but brings a "what about the male officers' lawsuit," alleging that her male colleagues are treated less harshly for similar misconduct.

If true, that might be worth a few bucks if her treatment were harsher. So what did the jury award?

$5.7 million!!!

Don't take my word for it--here's the link to the LA Times article: LAPD commander fired over drunken incident wins $5.7 million lawsuit - Los Angeles Times
